Burton High School

Write the name of your school staff present at today's workshop:

  1. Megan Enger
  2. PaulaO'Connell
  3. name

The goal of this activity is:

     (1) an opportunity to discuss and share with others how your school manages your computer lab

     (2) Become familiar the skills of using a wiki and possible future uses for this sort of application for the classroom

Discuss these prompts. One person from your group will write a few notes as you discuss the following:

  • How are classes using your school computer lab?

For research and word processing. Mr. Morgan, an English teacher, is having his students keep blogs instead of traditional journals.

  • What special tips do you have for managing your lab for other schools? (e.g - Possible tips to share: How does your school assure maintenance and security? Who is responsible for for management? How does your school ensure equity and accessibility to the lab for all classes?)

The lab is open to all teachers for any of their classes and they sign up ahead of time in the library. When a problem arrives (technologically or otherwise), the teachers promptly bring it to my attention. We have a great IT support staff and everything has been working fairly smoothly.

  • What might be a few concerns or issues about your lab that your school is still working on solutions to solve?

Paula: I love the image on your front page. It's very evocative and draws you into the spirit of the lesson.

Shancha - Learning not to reinvent the wheel every day is a great learning outcome.
