Lowell High School

Fiat Scientia "Let There be Knowledge"

School staff present at today's workshop:

  1. Linda Guitron

  2. Art Simon

  3. Bryan Ritter

  4. Cambria Bower

The goal of this activity is:

     (1) an opportunity to discuss and share with others how your school manages your computer lab

     (2) Become familiar the skills of using a wiki and possible future uses for this sort of application for the classroom

Discuss these prompts. One person from your group will write a few notes as you discuss the following:

  • How are classes using your school computer lab?  We have a PC computer lab available for one class, on a sign-in basis, through the library.  This is the only public student computer lab on campus.  The foreign language department has a lab available for its classes, to practice pronunciation and listening skills.  There is a math department computer lab used for math and computer programming instruction, and there are a dozen high powered macs in architecture, but neither of these is open to the general campus.

  • What special tips do you have for managing your lab for other schools? (e.g - Possible tips to share: How does your school assure maintenance and security? Who is responsible for for management? How does your school ensure equity and accessibility to the lab for all classes?)

          We have people for this.

  • What might be a few concerns or issues about your lab that your school is still working on solutions to solve?

Access.  Outdated. One computer lab with 40 computers for 2700 students.
