The goal of this activity is:

     (1) an opportunity to discuss and share with others how your school manages your computer lab

     (2) Become familiar the skills of using a wiki and possible future uses for this sort of application for the classroom

Discuss these prompts. One person from your group will write a few notes as you discuss the following: 

• How are classes using your school computer lab?

We have several computer labs available for teachers to sign-up for classes.  We have a PC lab, a MAC lab, a library lab, and now a wonderful portable MAC lab.  With using the portable lab, we use them for writing projects, digital storytelling, working on the school yearbook, creating music, and developing PowerPoint presentations.

• What special tips do you have for managing your lab for other schools? (e.g - Possible tips to share: How does your school assure maintenance and security? Who is responsible for for management? How does your school ensure equity and accessibility to the lab for all classes?)

We have a sign-up binder in a designated area for teachers to checkout the computers and we keep the cart locked in a secured area.

• What might be a few concerns or issues about your lab that your school is still working on solutions to solve?

We desperately need a computer technician to help maintain our labs, we need the correct cart to transport the computers, we need a router since it was not a part of the grant, and our printer is already out of ink and there is no funding to replace the cartridge.
