Computer Lab / Technology Plan for SF Community School for 2008-2009
Organization
Lab set up: arranged for easy access, each computer uniquely labeled, (students NOT assigned to a computer)
- 16 iMacs set up in the library lab
- 3 stations
- Each classroom has one iMac
Proposed Leadership and Accountability: Tech Team 08-09
Who on your school site is accountabile for all aspects of managing the lab?

The tech team will meet 5 times during the year (before school starts, once in the fall, winter, and spring, and after the school year ends) to plan and assess ongoing tech PD, support teachers in integrating technology into the curriculum, make decisions about spending any monies devoted to technology, and annually assess and update the school's technology plan.
Who are/is the main site contact between your school and the IT department?
Maintenance and Security
What has been done to assure that computers are in a secure location all the time?
- Wireless router set up with 128-bit WEP
- Separate security systems in Computer Lab and main building
What system does everyone routinely use to report hardware or software issues as they arise?
- By notifying Ivy Chan or writing problems on board in office
Accessibility for All
How can you ensure equity and accessibility to the lab for all classes?
- Teachers sign up for lab time as needed
- All 2nd-5th grade classes get taught basic computering skills
- All teachers K-8 will have periodic technology professional development and commit to using one technology strategy with their class during each semester.

Twanya, I think it is great that you are focusing on getting the teachers interested first and helping them understand that technology is a must... we have to reach teachers and turn them on...

I try to sell our students on Nettrekking for almost every research project because they can find quality websites without wasting their time sorting through Google sites.

Very interesting. It was good to learn about NetTrekker. I'd probably heard about it before---but forgotten it. You've inspired me to give it a closer look.

Like the presentation. Would like to know if yo plan to quiz the students. Don't know the demographics of students
but students might be able to teach teachers. And the student responses of questions can guide teacher need to know.

What a great and interesting topic for a PD. I have found that very few teachers even know what Netrekker is. This is a nice way to educate staff about this great resource.

Thanks Tanya! That will be a pratical lesson taht I can use when I introduce Netrekker to the AFY staff.
