Willie Brown Alternative

Write the name of your school staff present at today's workshop:

  1. Sandy Zeichner

  2. Philip Kreniske

  3. Rachelle Garrett

  4. Anna Fulton

The goal of this activity is:

     (1) an opportunity to discuss and share with others how your school manages your computer lab

     (2) Become familiar the skills of using a wiki and possible future uses for this sort of application for the classroom

Discuss these prompts. One person from your group will write a few notes as you discuss the following:

  • How are classes using your school computer lab?
  • groups of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students come for an "elective"
  • 4th, 5th and Special Ed come a few times a week

  • What special tips do you have for managing your lab for other schools? (e.g - Possible tips to share: How does your school assure maintenance and security? Who is responsible for for management? How does your school ensure equity and accessibility to the lab for all classes?)

  • What might be a few concerns or issues about your lab that your school is still working on solutions to solve?
  • Computer lab not used for real work, students think it is an arcade.
  • Majority of 6th, 7th and 8th graders do not have consistent access to the lab. This means that the majority of students at WBCPA do not have access to the lab. This makes me melancholy :(
  •   We could use this tool for group projects

Anna - This is just the beginning of your good class wiki. Keep up the good work. Don't forget to get some standards in there.
